Employees who work for the Montgomery County Government and the City of Clarksville will soon be able to take advantage of a walking program designed especially for them. The two governments have joined forces, along with guidance from the American Heart Association, to encourage employees to improve their health and fitness by walking during their work breaks.
This unique initiative provides employees with several walking routes to choose from – including both downtown and offsite routes - that have been measured for distance. Employees can choose a short route should they only have a few minutes left on their break or may choose one of the longer routes if they have more time. They can then log their mileage using the American Heart Association website. The program begins October 13th and will last six weeks. The person from each municipality having logged the most mileage will win a dinner for two at the Blackhorse Pub.
The program will be seasonal, but employees are encouraged to continue walking throughout the year. Below are the route maps.
