City seeks public input for Needmore Road Phase 1 widening project as part of Transportation 2020+

Feedback from citizens is encouraged

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The City of Clarksville will host a public meeting about the widening of Needmore Road from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 16, 2022, at Pisgah Elementary School. The purpose of the meeting will be to inform and receive input from the public on the proposed improvements to Needmore Road from near Spring Creek to Tiny Town Road.

The meeting will be a come and go style for citizens interested in attending. Project renderings will be available as well as comment cards. Additionally, City personnel and the project’s consultant staff will be in attendance to engage in Q&A with citizens.

“This meeting is another step in the right direction for our Transportation 2020+ plan,” said Mayor Joe Pitts. “It’s an area we’ve identified as an immediate need to alleviate future traffic congestion, promote safety amongst motorists and pedestrians, and connect the surrounding community along that roadway.”

The widening of Needmore Road is part of the City’s Transportation 2020+ plan and was identified as a Tier 1 project. These projects are prioritized by their ability to adhere to the City’s transportation core values. They are generally larger projects which are ranked as urgently needed to address traffic congestion, promote motorist and pedestrian safety, connect the community and expand transit service.

While still in preliminary design, specific improvements include widening the corridor to five (5) lanes total with pedestrian amenities and a new traffic signal at Hazelwood Road.

Any citizen who is unable to attend the meeting can visit CityofClarksville.com to fill out a survey and learn more details regarding the project.
