CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Clarksville Gas Department will begin a natural gas distribution system maintenance and service line upgrade project in the Welchview subdivision on Thursday, June 27.
Work will take place on week days and some Saturdays during daylight hours by Gas Department personnel to replace several, but not all, customer service lines and to relocate the gas meter where necessary. Digging will be required along both sides of Welchview subdivision streets; Shady Maple Drive, Pam Drive, Kathleen Court, Sarah Beth Court and Brad Court in order to access service lines.
Please be assured that the gas system is currently operating safely and properly in accordance with prescribed federal safety standards. Clarksville Gas is committed to serving customers with a safe and reliable natural gas system and intends to perform the work as quickly and efficiently as possible to limit gas service disruption.
It will not necessary for the customer to be home during the work; however, it will be necessary for an adult to be home when gas service is turned back on for customer safety. If you’re away during the work, a door hanger will be left with instructions to call the Gas Department, (931) 645-7422, to have a gas technician dispatched to restore service and to light pilots.
Weather and ground conditions permitting, the gas system work is anticipated to take a few months from the date of commencement to complete. Yard repairs, including seed and straw, will be made by a third-party contractor after the work is finished. Please pardon the disturbance in the neighborhood as the upgrade activities take place.
