CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – United Way of the Greater Clarksville Region has partnered with TVA and CDE Lightband to create the COVID-19 Community Care Fund to assist families affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

The Community Care Fund kicks off Monday, May 18 and continues until June 1. Donations can be made by visiting www.liveunitedclarksville.org.  One hundred percent of the proceeds will provide aid to CDE Lightband customers to reduce or pay in full their CDE Lightband electric bill. TVA will match up to $25,000 to help those who are experiencing job loss and financial hardship.

“Our vision at the United Way of the Greater Clarksville Region is a community where all individuals and families achieve their human potential through education, income stability and healthy lives,” said Valerie Guzman, Chief Executive Officer of the local United Way.

CDE Lightband has seen the number of overdue customers increase from an average of 300 households to 3,700 households. In an effort to support the Clarksville community, CDE Lightband employees are also  making donations through an internal campaign.

“As a public power provider, we are honored to join in this effort to help ease these unprecedented burdens on the people we serve,” said Brian Taylor, CDE Lightband General Manager. “The desire to improve our community through the reliable and affordable delivery of electric and broadband services is embedded in our mission and values.”

After June 1, those seeking assistance with their electric bills can contact United Way of the Greater Clarksville Region at 931-647-4291.
